The Waste King L-8000 Garbage Disposal

It was 1927 when a gentleman from Racine, Wisconsin, by the name of John W. Hammes invented the garbage disposal. The garbage disposal did not take off very quickly as it was not seen as a household appliance. In 1939 Hammes decided to have the garbage disposal patented and he started manufacturing the disposal under the name of In-Sink-Erator. The Company is still in existence today and still sells its garbage disposals. The In-Sink-Erator did not take of in rapid growth and it was not until the l970s and 1980s that it found its way into the home of the more affluent people. It was actually in the 1970s and 1980s that the garbage disposal found its way to homes of affluent people.

Today the Waste King L-8000 is one of the more popular garbage disposals. Its one horse power vortex motor operates a twenty eight hundred rpm and the grinding components made of stainless steel are built in glass filled nylon and are non corrosive. It is made to outlast most other garbage disposals and although it is larger than most other disposals it is also quieter.

The product information regarding the Waste King L-8000 is as follows: It is eight and a half inches wide and sixteen and one sixteenth inches tall and weighs in at fourteen point seven pounds. The Waste King L-8000 has a speed of twenty eight hundred rpm, has a splash guard that can be removed and has a thirty six inch power cord. The grinding components are rust free and it offers the longest warranty in the small home appliance industry.

More than one hundred people have taken the time to review the Waste King L-8000 giving it four and five stars. Most of the reviewers made comments to the fact that although it is larger than most garbage disposals it quieter than any of them. Many of the reviewers commented on the fact that the installation of this disposal was easy although some felt that they needed a plumber to install it. Mention was made by some that you need a lot of space under your sink because of the large size of this disposal.

In August 2009 the Waste King L-8000 was rated the highest disposal system out of six that were tested by Consumer Reports. It was rated as a high quality product. The Waste King L-8000 is reasonably priced at anywhere from $145 to $170.
